Some 17 youth organizations with a presence throughout the country, gathered in Masculinity Network for Gender Equality (Redman) demonstrated this weekend against violence against women, during a meeting held in Somoto, head of the department of Madriz, which also celebrated the three year anniversary of that organization.


Young made an exhibition of work in these three years have been developing in their respective localities, between the campaigns highlighting the prevention of abuse and sexual abuse against women and educational talks to avoid diseases such as HIV / AIDS, undertaken in schools.

Douglas Mendoza Urrutia, the Committee for the Coordination of Redman, said that in the case of the department of Madriz, members of these organizations have been doing a good job in towns like Totogalpa and Somoto where educational talks were given to kids and Chavalos talking about violence prevention, sexual exploitation and HIV / AIDS. "In coordination with the Ministry of Education we are training teachers and have developed a school for parents to talk about comprehensive sex education, "he said.


Another issue discussed was the violence in many Nicaraguan households, in most cases caused by the macho attitude of men.

Some 17 social organizations comprise the Redman, which are present in Managua, Ocotal, Chinandega, Leon, Matagalpa, Madriz, Esteli.
